Scariest Fruit In the World

Poetry Prompt: Foods you partially hate and will only consume in certain forms

It has become a joke Everyone knows Family and friends And especially those pesky close friends.

People at work had to know I simply had no choice They bring this out on someone’s birthday Or anything to celebrate.

A national specialty tastes better with this Why does this have to be the country’s favorite dish? This only means it cannot be avoided A fruit which I truly hate.

I’m not being dramatic This fruit gave me anxiety as a kid As an adult, I vomit at the sight of it And here I am, writing a free-verse about it.

I was tagged by Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) for a poetry prompt on our least favorite fruit on the planet.

The fruit I am referring to is called CALAMANSI. Almost all restaurants in the country have a stash of this green fruit because people love squeezing this on their food (noodles, dimsum, fish, pretty much anything ugh) or mixing it with soy sauce. I am scared of this fruit. I am not kidding. I was told maybe when I was a kid, I had a traumatic experience with it but I really do not remember. I can't even post a photo — it gives me the hibbie jibbies.

Tagging Dennett, Amy Marley, Natalie Blardony, Dr. Fatima Imam and Agnes Louis. You ladies might find this prompt fun. Happy New Year!

Thanks again Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) this was a fun and quick exercise.
