Say A Prayer For The World — Who Is Going To Save The Children?

Children are small, and so are their voices. It’s easy for humanity not to hear their cries!

They say we enter the world as an empty slate. An empty heart too, I guess. So it’s up to us to put the correct values, disciplines, and qualities inside our children. Until we do, they need us.

Humanity is failing the Children!

On the floor doing my yoga this morning and my husband turned on the TV to listen to the news. Maxi Priest’s song Say A Prayer For The World flows out and attacks my heart as the news goes on to explain how many children are dying and suffering in our world.

The lyrics of this song inspired me to write this piece.

The cries of our children are going unheard!

According to one news source, more than ten thousand Palestinian children have been slaughtered in Gaza since October 2023. That means every fifteen minutes a child dies. The voices of these children go unanswered. Is it because they are small? Small voices tend to go unheard, even in death.

According to www.msnbc.com: More than 12,300 children in Gaza have been killed since Israel began its retaliatory assault on the enclave after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, according to the Gaza Health Ministry — a staggering toll that surpasses the number of children killed in wars globally in the four years prior.

Across Nigeria, children are being abducted and taken from schools.

According to www.alijazeera.com, It was the third incident of mass kidnapping in northern Nigeria since late last week, when more than 200 people, mostly women and children, were abducted by suspected fighters in Borno state. On Thursday, 287 students were taken hostage from a government primary and secondary school in Kaduna state.
