Saturn Series: Eighth House or Scorpio—Power and Responsibility
The influence of transit or natal Saturn through the signs and houses

Welcome to the eighth article in this Saturn series.
This series explores how Saturn might show up in your life when it transits the Eighth House or Scorpio, or if you have this placement in your birth chart.
You can find the introduction to this series here, which includes links to all the articles in the series.
Saturn in the Eighth house or Scorpio by transit or birth
The Eighth House, like Scorpio, has a lot to do with shared resources with significant others, romantic or otherwise, power, money potential, and transformation.
Associated with the reproductive organs and digestive system, Saturn in the Eighth can cause some issues in these areas, such as with fertility or digestion, so if you have this transit or this placement in your birth chart it might be an idea to keep an eye on these areas.
Mars is Scorpio’s traditional ruler and Pluto is its modern ruler, and both of these planets have an influence on the sign’s energy. Pluto, briefly, is like death and rebirth and potentially the darker or secret sides of life, and Mars is like action, action, and aggression. Saturn through the Eighth, or Scorpio, can bring different limitations to these areas.
Saturn transiting here could either indicate a period where you feel quite stuck, like you are desiring great change in your life but you either don’t know how to bring it in or it otherwise just doesn’t seem to be happening for you.
On the other hand, it could show a need for you to decide to bring significant change into your life to bring yourself more into alignment with the most current version of yourself, or else to flow with changes you feel like you have little control over.
Change is the only constant in life, so this is an opportunity to go with the flow and possibly a time you’ll look back on in the future as one of the periods that turned your life in a different direction for the better.
Another challenge with this placement is discovering how to share resources such as money in a way that benefits both or all parties, and how to be in successful personal relationships. Power couples come to my mind, but there may be relationship lessons to learn before you get to that point.
Because of Pluto’s influence, Scorpio is closer to the darker aspects of life than the other zodiac signs. “With great power comes great responsibility,” as we learnt from Spider-Man, and I also love that because spiders are so Scorpio vibes, but it is important to remember here because if you f**k around chances are you will find out about it with this placement!
Practising grace, flow, and reciprocity especially might help with navigating this transit!
Famous example
Jennifer Lopez, JLo, has Saturn in her Eighth House in Taurus.
JLo has her sun in Leo, moon in Scorpio, and Libra rising.
Lopez began her career as an actor in stage musicals performed internationally and was cast in her first, minor role at 16, in the film My Little Girl (1986).
She then entered the TV industry with a role as a “Fly Girls” dancer in the comedy show In Living Color (1990). She then started acting in several series and films, including as the lead in Selena (1997), through which she rose to greater public awareness.
Following more movie success in the late 90s, Lopez then debuted as a pop artist with her first album On the 6, which went on to sell more than eight million copies, and was a judge on American Idol for the 2011–12 and 2014–16 seasons.
She has had quite a few high-profile romantic relationships, such as with actor Ben Affleck in the early 2000s, which didn’t last at the time, though they rekindled their romance about 20 years later and got married in 2022.
Not only can Scorpio and Eighth House themes be seen through JLo’s extensive, successful, and wide-ranging career, but also in the roles and movies she was cast in.
For example, in The Back-up Plan (2010) she played the part of a single woman who finds her partner following becoming pregnant through artificial insemination. Saturn in the eighth can struggle with sharing power and with connecting intimately with another person. This role demonstrated both the fertility and partner limitations possible with this placement.
JLo has had success across multiple industries and relationships, the latter also possibly have a lot to do with both her Venusian moon and rising. Venus’ influence has potentially helped the star be a shining example of how to ride waves as big as she has with such poise and grace.
I’d love to hear about your experience with an Eighth House or Scorpio Saturn.
