Saturn Series: Fifth House or Leo — Disciplining Your Creativity
The influence of transit or natal Saturn through the signs and houses

Saturn in the Fifth House or Leo by transit or birth
Saturn in the Fifth, or Leo, is akin to having a Saturn-sun conjunction; if that helps you understand what impact it might have.
Whichever house Saturn is in the chart and whatever aspects it makes to other planets and angles indicates where you might normally face limitations or restrictions in life which you can work on.
We come to earth to experience lives governed by physical laws, the laws of physics. Where the planet is in your birth chart represents where you will face lifelong lessons of what does and doesn’t work out in the world. The transits will show shorter, several-year lessons, courses even, that you have a chance to ‘pass’ or have another go when it comes back around to the same place.
Saturn in the Fifth House of Leo is tricky because here is where a big part of our creativity is based and where we want to shine. Leo is associated with the sun in the birth chart. The sun provides the life spark in everyone, whatever the sign. It gives you energy to the rest of your chart, influencing the expression of your character traits.
Saturn adds pressure to our creativity then, making us feel like it is restricted to a tight box. Although this could seem limiting, it can also be positively framed as what allows us to produce some of our best work. After all, diamonds are made under pressure.
Creative work you commit to under this transit, or over your life if you have it by birth, is likely to have a high return on investment in the long run. I read an article by Darren Matthews who talked about the idea that hard work equals an easy life. I read it several years ago and just found it again through Google-searching the concept as it has stuck with me since. I highly recommend it and it feels like it ties in well to not just this Saturn transit but any Saturn transit in one way or another.
Leo rules the heart, so it is especially important to not hold hate there as that is really not good for you! Holding softness, kindness, and love in your heart will provide you with good karma.
Famous example
Jim Morrison, lead singer of the 1960s rock band the Doors, had Saturn in the Fifth House in Gemini.
At the beginning of his college career, he attended what is now St Petersburg College in Florida, where he recited poetry at the local Beaux Arts café. He transferred to Florida State University and again to the University of California and studied film. There, the Doors was born, with organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Kriegar, and drummer John Densmore.
Saturn in the Fifth can be prone to taking fun too far. Morrison’s was known for his drug use and wild behaviour on stage and was arrested while performing on charges of public obscenity, indecency, and inciting a riot.
For a very extreme example of Morrison’s Saturn placement, he has 20 paternity suits against him. He was also known to swap women between hotel rooms with his friend January Jansen.
Rolling Stone journalist Jerry Hopkins described Morrison as an unplaceable, almost mythic figure in a 1969 interview with the magazine.
“Both an angelic choirboy in an unfortunate setting and a satyr seeking a continuing debauch; boorish and inarticulate as well as polite, considered and shy; all the above and none of these,” said Hopkins.
“Jim Morrison came to represent the perfect Super Star — someone far larger than his work or his life.”
One of the most famous rock legends today, Morrison tragically died from a heroin overdose at age 27.
