What Does It Mean To You And Me?

The hottest thing happening in the AI industry in the last 24 hours is the abrupt sacking of Sam Altman, the very face of the industry.
Sam built Open AI into a force that was nothing like anyone had ever seen earlier — over 100 million users in months, changing life as we know it, and built a company valued at several hundred billion dollars all in a few short years. The marriage with Microsoft, the deep investments, and the fast-churning output blew half the planet.
Last week Sam was at the Dev Days event where he ran the event almost entirely himself in the august presence of Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft. Four days later he was fired.
A Reddit message that was found today (posted on Linked In by someone I know) said this:
There is also a rumor about ‘too fast growth and leadership’ rocking the big tech players who had to dislodge the apple cart in some fashion and another one about the Board wanting it to remain a non-profit AI lab but Sam wanted to run it like an AI product firm.
I thought of sharing a few thoughts on how the big game plays by its own rules. Here are a few thoughts I shared in a brief video. If you are a startup founder or entrepreneur you might find this interesting. Check it out:
