Sacred Stories
A Poem
We have to have something to ensure we know what to do about the power of sacred things in this life how will we know when to kneel when to pray how will we know when to ritualize moments of the day candles and ceremony and incense and myths we participate in the sacred more than we realize the dishes we clean — purified the laundry we washed — forgiven the bed we make — holy the food we eat — sacrament we are repeatedly initiated into sacred stories we are mundane vessels of divine life
