But I didn’t put my best effort into writing and engaging on Medium in March.</p><p id="6f57">I <i>do</i> control that.</p><p id="5df7">That will be corrected in April.</p><h1 id="4446">Final Thoughts</h1><p id="c3f6">If I keep doing the same things over and over, I’ll keep getting the same results. (Insanity, right?)</p><p id="bad7">So I need to think about and consider what to do to change things. There are only so many hours in the day. Road to $5k Per Month Challenge (March Updates)

How far am I from my goal?

How the heck is it April already? Time flies when you’re having fun!

And I don’t know about you, but I’ve been having a blast!

I’ve discovered my new favorite way to earn an income, but we’ll get to that a little later.

In case you’re new here, my goal is to get to $5,000 in a month by the end of the year. I’m doing this through:

Medium
digital products
my mini newsletter
affiliate marketing promotions

Let’s see how I did in March after a quick February recap. Am I close to my goal yet?

A Recap of February

Here’s the TL;DR version:

Writing through Medium: I had 2.2k followers and earned $503.03.
Mini email newsletter: I had 483 subscribers.
Affiliate sales: I made $94 in affiliate sales.
Digital products: I made $157.56 with digital products

I made a total of $779.60.

March’s Results

Unfortunately, my results overall were slightly worse than in February. But some areas were up (Medium earnings) and some earnings were down (affiliate sales).

But there is good news with the affiliate sales, which I’ll get to a little later.

For now, let’s see how Medium went.

Reads & Views

March’s reads and views were down compared to February. (And I see Medium has changed this chart again. Fun, fun!)

I have two main reasons for this drop:

I only wrote 29 stories this month (I wrote 33 in February)
I wasn’t able to engage with other writers as much as I planned

These are significant factors on Medium.

Followers

I gained 249 followers, and 6 email followers, which is down from February and down significantly from January.

There was a bot cleanup this month, and I think I lost quite a few followers from that. Fine with me! Fake followers aren’t helpful.

I’m up to 2.4k total followers.

I’m not disappointed because I’d be happy if 1 person wanted to follow me.

Earnings

Earnings were up a little bit from last month. (As a reminder, there were two extra days this month versus February.)

I have yet to pass the $500 level, but I am determined to do it this month!

At the same time, I’m very grateful to earn this amount for the 4th month in a row! Even though I wrote less, I earned more. That gets a hell yes!

Mini Newsletter

My newsletter subscribers went up a decent amount last month. And that’s because I had an ad spot in Jamie Northrup - Minimalist Hustler’s Minimalist Hustler Daily newsletter.

Jamie’s spot kicked things into gear for me, and I got up to 526 subscribers.
