Right Wing Nationalists Are Like Rapists Celebrating the Anniversary of an Assault
We have to stop allowing sociopaths to incite the insane into committing acts of violence
Imagine if a rapist finished his assault and then insisted that he was in fact the victim. Actually, it’s not hard to imagine because right wing nationalists engage in that kind of abhorrent behavior every single day.
Can it please stop?
Can you please have a little bit of decency?
But no, you can’t appeal to sociopaths to act like reasonable human beings.
Imagine if you caught your creepy uncle attacking your daughter during a holiday family gathering and he was mad when he wasn’t invited the next year. That’s the level of delusional entitlement we’re dealing with when it comes to January 6th insurrection apologists.
It’s delusional to expect sociopaths to one day wake up and recognize how truly terrible they are. It won’t happen. Anyone who fails to stand up to them only enables their behavior.
We did nothing wrong!
“Oh, you liked it! You wanted it! You asked for it!”
There are millions of Americans who gather together and embolden themselves to spew these terrible statements. Imagine the lack of conscience! Imagine the lack of basic decency.
People are dead. Police officers are dead!
“No, they’re not dead, nobody can connect their deaths to what happened on January 6th!”
That’s not true, that’s a lie. Yet the right wing nationalists keep on marching along with their chests puffed out like they’re the last rooster in the coop (coup?).
“We’re ashamed of nothing.”
Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) don’t feel too bad about what happened on Jan. 6. The far-right lawmakers on Thursday hosted what they described as the Republican “response” to a slate of Democratic events commemorating the anniversary of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. They professed their lack of shame while offering a preview of their press conference on Steve Bannon’s podcast. “We’re proud of the work that we did on Jan. 6 to make legitimate arguments about election integrity,” Gaetz continued, adding that he and Greene planned to stage a march “the grounds that patriotic Americans walked from the White House to the Capitol.” — Ryan Bort & Peter Wade
They’re calling it “work?” These people don’t know what work is. Work is something you do for $7.25 an hour.
It’s shameful that we live in a country that is so disconnected from morality that we allow elected politicians to stand up and brag about how they assaulted, tortured, and murdered people.
That’s what happened! People at the capitol were assaulted, tortured, and murdered and right wing nationalists insist they’re “proud” of what they did!
Don’t act too fast!
We need to get one thing straight, when somebody is attacking you, you have a right to defend yourself. You are under no obligation to lay there and endure it out of some misguided sense of bipartisanship.
Neoliberals seem to feel it’s their divine obligation to pump the breaks on anything that could be called progress. They insist on acting slowly even when the house is burning down.
It’s important to recognize that when Trump got elected it represented a mass rejection of neoliberalism. The lesson of that election is that neoliberalism is the only thing Americans find more offensive than Trump. When the democratic nominee promised to embrace a progressive platform, it led to a resounding victory.
The message of “don’t act fast” is a losing message. Yet some politicians are chirping it right alongside the “we did nothing wrong” crowd:
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took a swipe at progressive Democrats earlier this month, saying that her party needs to consider “what wins elections” rather than what plays well “in deep-blue districts.”
In an interview with NBC’s Willie Geist, Clinton said that supports “having vigorous debate” and including different voices in the process of governing. But she also warned that “it means nothing if we don’t have a Congress that will get things done” or “a White House that we can count on to be sane and sober and stable and productive.” — Clinton: ‘It is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections’
The reason we have a Congress that won’t get things done is because of neoliberal obstructionists!
Let the record show that if Clinton had followed her own advice and actually won her election, the whole mess we’re in might have been avoided. Neoliberals tend to look at her defeat and come to the absurd conclusion that the voters were at fault.
A politician who blames the voters for his/her defeat is always going to lose. It’s a loser philosophy. A politician’s job is to listen to the voters, not dictate to the voters what they believe is the best course of action. Politicians represent us, it’s not the other way around.
It’s been a year since our country was attacked. We’re moving way too slowly on this. The right wing nationalists are at fault. The neoliberals are at fault. The only ones asking for justice are the progressives.
Failing to comply with a subpoena
Since when is failure to comply with law enforcement a thing? When the police tell me to do something, I can’t just say “no” and expect them to walk away. Instead, they grab me by the hair, punch me three times in the face, make me do the thing they told me to do in the first place, and charge me an extra fine for the inconvenience.
When evil people are rich are the rules different or something (I know the answer)?
The letter that the Select Committee sent to Sean Hannity is almost apologetic. It’s almost as if the Select Committee thinks they have no authority and have to plead with people to comply with their wishes.
The Select Committee has immense respect for the First Amendment to our Constitution, freedom of the press, and the rights of Americans to express their political opinions freely. For that reason, we do not intend to seek information from you regarding your broadcasts on radio or television, your public reporting or commentary, or your political views regarding any candidate for office. Oh come on!
You’re the United States government! Don’t get on your knees and beg a guy to come in and offer information about the day the country was raped. Send in the marines!
I pay taxes too! The marines shouldn’t be only obliged to be sent off to fight whatever war Sean Hannity and the other propagandists at Fox news have decided will best enhance their stock portfolio. Let the marines defend America!
Have them go in during a live broadcast, grab him by the hair, punch him in the face three times, and drag him kicking and screaming to the select committee where he is strapped into a chair and made to remain there until he talks. The Select Committee believes he has important information about AN ATTACK ON OUR NATION!
When somebody is raping you, you don’t say, “Please stop.”
The rapist is just going to keep going while insisting that it’s consensual.
Haven’t you figured it out yet? This isn’t an honest conversation. It’s just a delaying tactic that the rapist can use so he can finish.
Stop the damn rape and then we can start having conversations. You don’t have to tolerate this.

I’m sick of reading news stories like this where entitled people openly defy our legal system. This isn’t the way it works! You don’t get to say, “I refuse to comply” or “that’s an illegitimate investigation.” There’s no precedent for that! In no other circumstance do the police put their hands in their pockets and walk away.
It’s infuriating!

Biden’s speech
Biden’s speech was a good start, but he didn’t go far enough and he should have made that speech the day he was sworn in.

Question: Why do you hold a dagger at the throat of Lady Liberty?
Answer: So you can rape her.
Some of us have been beating this drum for a year because it’s terrifying to think that the guy smugly insisting that “it was a completely consensual encounter” is the person the nation will come to believe. If that comes to pass, the rest of us will be dismissed as “hysterical” as has been the case for so many victims of abuse in the deplorable history of our country.
This last year has been disgusting. The offensive language that is used to defend the indefensible actions taken by right wing nationalists on January 6th is everywhere. Those arguing on the side of truth, those that say that this was an unconscionable assault are pushed off to the fringes. We don’t get to go on the Today show or Fox News to argue our point. Almost NOBODY is arguing that point.
It’s almost as if it’s considered bad manners. It’s like they’re saying, “When you insist your uncle raped you at Christmas it ruins our family dinner.”
Yeah, it’s unpleasant, but our whole country needs to wake up and face reality or we become complicit in further assaults!
We need to live in a country where schools teach that Trump and his co-conspirators attempted to overthrow the government and very nearly succeeded. In fact, they never stopped, their efforts are ongoing. Bullies don’t quit being bullies because you ask them nicely. Bullies must be stopped. Our country has to take strong action to stop this bully or we will lose our freedoms.
Biden’s January 6th speech would have been a nice start on January 7th, 2021. A year delay was exactly what the right wing nationalists wanted. Why are we still listening to the rapists? When will it be time to give the victims a chance to speak?
The punchline is that there are many people in the US that will find this article to be more offensive than the events of January 6th. Get some perspective. Take action. It’s impossible to overstate how important this is.
