Richard Dean Anderson Will Never Know I Love Him
He ruined me for other men

Rick, smile for me! Yeah, you, clever man who can fix anything and everything with just a paper clip and some chewing gum.
Yeah, I know I’m committing the sin of confusing you with MacGyver, your most famous role. However, I want you to know that if I’m attracted to you, it’s not just because of your brain.
Oh, no, not me! I swear that, even after all these years, I’m still fascinated with your eyes and your sexy hair. Mmm, and the way you wear those jeans. And don’t even get me started on that swiss army knife of yours.
How you ruined me for other men.
I was just a little Mexican girl living in a border town when I first looked at you, Rick. The TV was on, I was there, and MacGyver was doing his thing.
I don’t remember what that particular episode was about; all I know is that from then on, I would watch you week after week, having adventures and using your brain to save the world.
Years later, when I was already a grown-up, I rewatched every single episode and — I know this is not your fault — was a little disappointed.
Those first episodes were good, yes. They were very MacGyver-ish. However, it seems the showrunners were obsessed with the cold war and defeating the evil Russians. Fair enough, back then, everybody was. Sadly, they haven’t aged well, even if they seem to fit right into today’s political climate.
Still, as the show progressed, you found your footing, and it was easy to see you were having a blast. After all, it’s not every day that you get to help people and show off how smart you are while letting your magnificent hair blow in the wind.
Mmm, MacGyver’s mullet…
But there was more to you than homemade bombs.
Once MacGyver ended, you made some movies and even tried to do a new show in which you played a writer who people constantly mistook for one of his characters. Ring a bell?
But then came a new significant role for you in the shape of non-other than Coronel Jack O’Neill in a TV show called Stargate SG-1, inspired by the 1994 movie.
I admit that, in the beginning, I would watch the show just because of you. However, the story and the characters soon won me over, and I became a fan of the franchise. That’s right! I watched all of SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate Universe, and even a few TV movies. Heck, I kept watching even after you left!.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for introducing me to new stories I really got to enjoy.
Rick, you know you are hot!
I’m aware you’ll never know how much I love you. Still, sometimes I wonder, in the end, what was it about you that I found so appealing?
I could go with the obvious physical attributes. Come on, Rick, you know you are hot! But it wasn’t just because of that, even if I like to joke about it.
In reality, what young GB found so interesting is that MacGyver could be trusted. The second he showed up on the screen, the audience knew he would go to the end to solve the situation. Not only that, but he would use every resource at his disposal to fix the problem.
And if all of that failed? He would find a way!
Add to that, he was loyal, optimistic, confident, and would speak up whenever something went against his values. You would always know where he stood. And, of course, there was the way those jeans fitted him so nicely and how he moved his knife…
So, nowadays, I like smart, resourceful men with playful smiles who do not take themselves too seriously but, when push comes to shove, can be fully trusted…and you can blame MacGyver for that.
