Hurricane Ian

Reporter Puts Condom on Microphone

You Can Absolutely Be Too Careful

Funny: I also use rubber bands when I wear a condom. (Photo: Jeff Butera on Twitter.)

Ah, hurricanes. The bane of every junior reporter.

It is an American tradition, as cherished as apple pie, for news affiliates to send their hapless recent hire into the middle of any inclement weather that reaches tropical storm status.

When Hurricane Ian struck near WBBH in Florida, it was Kyla Galer’s turn to have her hair and make-up destroyed by 150 mph winds.

Kyla may have been willing to gamble with her own life, but she was certainly not willing to gamble with the station’s equipment.

New reporters are a dime a dozen, but new microphones? That will cost you $120 each.

Can we really blame Ms. Galer? After all, herpes is forever, and who knows where that microphone has been?

I’m impressed she was able to secure the condom so snuggly in such strenuous conditions. I bet she’s been practicing with bananas, or maybe men’s penises, just so she’d be ready for the big day.

I know what you’re thinking — wouldn’t that microphone feel a lot better without the condom? Of course it would! But the last thing we need in this world is more unwanted microphone babies filling up the shelves of used electronics at Best Buy.

Also a big congratulations to that microphone for lasting an entire thirteen seconds in this clip. That’s four seconds more than my average.

Normally I’d push another comedy article on you, but I’m in Africa right now, so here’s an Africa thing instead:
