Remembering The Golden Days Of Medium

Medium is keeps on changing

We are wistful about the golden days of the past and dream of a distant future unclouded by necessity. But I suspect that if our inner souls were asked what in life they really missed, the answer would be primal danger and stress.

I get excited every time I press the “publish” button on Medium. Today, though, it’s a different type of place. Medium began to give me the impression of fraustration rather than excitement.

I have started my writing career on Medium. This month marks my 2.5-year anniversary on Medium. There have been ups and downs along the way. I was able to experiment with my writing thanks to Medium, which also assisted me in writing improvement. I used to solely compose poetry. However, Medium made it easier for me to write about various themes and express my ideas.

I have not made thousands of dollars in the past 2.5 years, but the amount I have is enough to motivate me to continue writing. I’ve come to the conclusion that you shouldn’t count on every article you write to be a big success. Some of the stories will not do well at all.

On Medium earlier, the situation was perfectly okay. It seemed like everything was going pretty well. Your hard work will be rewarded through this medium.

On the other hand, my views and read ratio have drastically decreased. My fan base and reading ratio have significantly changed. It appears that no one is reading the story; they are just clapping and leaving.

In the screenshot below, you can see that nearly all of those stories have more fans than read ratio.

According to an article I recently read about Medium, the platform has over 725k subscribers. This indicates that although there are enough readers on this platform, there are not many views. Not just me, I’ve seen numerous articles regarding the current situation on Medium where authors are grumbling about low views. For both me and many other writers, October was the month with the lowest earnings. Please share with me your experiences as well.

By demonstrating our support for one another, we can still save this platform. We can all understand how much work goes into writing a story since we are all authors. When the story doesn’t turn out well, we do feel really bad.

As a result, our community can support one another. We must invest our reading time into keeping this platform vibrant. This article serves as a reminder that everyone on Medium has the ability to revive those glory days. Let’s strengthen this community by reading together and helping one another.

Let’s respect the authors and progress by supporting one another.

I’m appreciative of all the writers who contributed to Reciprocal. My sincere appreciation goes out to my excellent editors, Dr. Preeti Singh and Yana Bostongirl, for consistently giving our publication their very best work.

Let’s do our best to improve this space for all of the writers and readers.
