Summary

The web content is a personal reflection on the challenges and growth experienced in the journey of healing and self-care, emphasizing the importance of asking for help and understanding the dynamics between givers and takers.

Abstract

The article, through a poem, delves into the author's struggle with balancing the joy of giving with the necessity of self-care. Prompted by Diana C. in the "Know Thyself Heal Thyself" group, the author, Orla K., expresses the difficulty in seeking assistance due to a self-perceived obligation to always be the giver. The poem highlights the personal growth in recognizing when to ask for help and the wisdom in discerning who to ask. It underscores that healing is a continuous process that involves rewiring one's mindset to ensure that one's needs are met without being exploited by those who take without giving back.

What are you really trying to say?

A Poem

Healing is a gift and I love it Bit by bit the old falls away but some things remain I was programmed to be a giver I didn’t learn how to look after my own needs adequately Giving is a joy to a giver But, without wisdom and understanding we give too much away, leaving ourselves depleted of energy I have come a long way and I still love to give, but sometimes, I need help too and that has not always been easy for me to do I have to train myself to ask for what I need and make it my business to get the help I also had to learn that some people are not givers, but takers and no matter how much you try to change them, they tend not to change So now, when I need help I ask for it, but I go to the right places Healing is a process We can rewire the brain to act in the right way that will help us in our life
