Reconciliation

a poem that documents growth

Reconciling over what previously would have spelled the end of a friendship is the character redemption arc that happened to me today.

Inviting Chloe | Campbell Christensen | Radhika Ghose | Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles | Em Unravelling | Tarun Gupta | The Positive Journal | Jessie London| Celeste Tsang | if you’re up to it and anyone else interested to smash that writer’s block, join in on this tiny challenge and write a response, wherever it takes you! It can be a tiny poem, a shortform piece or an essay — whatever comes into that brain noodle!

Reconciliation — what does it mean to you? At what times do you think it’s acceptable or the right choice to make? At what times do you think it’s unacceptable or not the right choice to make?

Submit it to The Brain is a Noodle or be sure to tag me in your response if you publish elsewhere, so I can read it and share it with the world!

Hi I’m Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) and I like this feeling. Especially as someone who was pushed to reconcile for far too long, I had a rebound period where when I was free to make my decisions, I made ones that swung all the way to the other side. It took some time to recalibrate for situations where some level of nuance and forgiveness is safely possible, and getting there, damn, that feeling is so good. To have found a space where I can safely allow reconciliation without it being the mechanism for further perpetuating past harm, that feels so good. For that, I am grateful ❤
