Reckless Optimism That Makes Me Smile
November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Collecting Smiles”
They will be dry by February.
The photo doesn’t do justice to the dampness of the day. Although it wasn’t raining, moisture hung in the air, and there wasn’t a breath of wind. Hanging out the washing was pointless, but it made a change from gathering apples. We’ve picked all the ones we can reach, but the trees are still dropping huge apples from their upper branches, which we gather and store.
After more apple activity, looking after the dinos, watching the November weather, and thinking back to the sorts of photos I took in summer just a few weeks ago, I checked the washing on the line. I can’t say for sure that it was wetter than when it went out, but it certainly wasn’t any dryer.
But still, it’s an act of optimism in the face of a dismal November day, and as such, it made me smile.
