WRITING

Real Art and Poetry

Being a top writer is a great acknowledgment but I want to share it with real art and poetry makers

Real artists making real art. How beautiful! How functional! How ingenious! Picture credit: Piqsels

I just became a top writer in Art and a few days later also in Poetry. Who’d have thought when I started out here? I certainly didn’t!

I came to this platform to make an impact for Gaia. To share stories on how to live sustainably. How to create business models that change the rules of the game. How to make local economies that support life as vibrant as possible. How to be a feminine leader full of compassion and daring. How to create an environment for the transition. For change.

It is what the world needs right now. Change.

And I’d just like to contribute.

So what happened to me to diversify into art?

The main thing that happened, I think, is that I was challenged by my friends from Illumination. I became daring. I dared to show all of me.

Not just the serious side, but the insecure side as well.

The playful side. The enjoying side. The mesmerized-by-nature side.

I had been a fiction writer all my life, but always as an aside. Always next to my serious-business-me. And although I loved writing suspenseful, sometimes even considered sensual, fiction I never pursued art or poetry seriously.

The support of my friends empowered me to dare more. Become a better writer.

So, now here I am. An artist? I don’t know.

I do believe art is a necessity in this world full of rational minds who do rational things. Who then very rationally wreck what’s sacred. Life. And tell themselves that it’s ok. There’s just no different way. We need an economy, don’t we?

Well, we made the economy ourselves, we can also change her.

But in order to find out how to do that, we need to look at the world with different eyes. And artists look at life with upside-down eyes, I sometimes think. They really see. And they mirror us all.

So, this story pays homage to artists. To poets. To changemakers in a subtle, or sometimes not so subtle range of touching hearts instead of convincing heads.

Who are the real artists?

To me, there’s only one answer possible to the question of who the real artists are. Gaia herself is the most ingenious, daring, beautiful artist of all. Paying homage to art is paying homage to Gaia’s creatures. Let me give you some examples.

Just look at this video and see the art.

These dolphins are pursuing very serious business. They are hunting and eating. But still. Look at the art they are creating while hunting and eating. Wow! The spirals are made with locally available materials. In this case mud. And they combine beauty with consumption.

Since when have we done that properly?

Bought something really Beautiful, Useful, and Durable?

Hmm… maybe something to keep in mind when shopping for our next clothes. Or furniture. Or food.

Fractals in My Fridge

Shapes of nature are everywhere, we don’t need oceans for them.

Have a look at the fractals in my fridge.

Cauliflower. Fractals in my fridge. Image my own.

Fractals are amazing shapes of nature. It is how nature scales up. Gaia chooses a shape and when she wants to scale she duplicates that shape many times. That’s what fractals are. No psychedelic images that come from computers, no. A real-life strategy for scaling.

So, what if next time we eat we look at our food properly? Can we design our meals with care and beauty? Can we open all our tastebuds with the first bite?

Hmm… I needed this reminder myself…

Flowers and Miracle Shapes

The most accessible reminders for humans that we live on a sacred planet are given to us by flowers and birds.

Just look for a little while at this image. And realize that this is a design.

Patterns of a sunflower. Picture credit wikimedia commons.

A design made with the Fibonacci sequence, long before Fibonacci was even born!

And then this one, I just made the picture a while ago in my own garden.

Passionflower in my own garden. Image my own.

Look at the colors, the patterns. The shapes. And then look at our fellow-humans’ imagination. Structures like grey boxes to live in. Ugly plastic toys to play with. Fake synthetic clothes to wrap our beautiful bodies in.

Is our imagination flawed, or what?

What if we would unleash our imagination and create a world of beauty? Once in a while slowing down helps us to remember. Standing still and smelling the roses.

Miracle Messenger Birds

The birds are miracle messengers close to us as well. We have six senses. Not just one. Listening to birdsong is the closest we can come to understanding our universe.

My Success Is Not Mine Alone

Recently, people start asking me as well about success. Well, my answer is simple. I don’t have my eyes on the money. I just create. And enjoy myself. So if the money won’t come, I will have had a great time and will have met great friends from all over the world.

And success will come. Or it won’t.

I don’t have recipes. I just do what I do.

First of all, my success is not only my own. I need to share the credit with Gaia. She’s the one inspiring me every day. She’s the one who made me study and gave me the wisdom to share. Practical wisdom about rational things, like the economy, businesses, and healthy living.

And inspirational wisdom like art and poetry.

Happy writing, my friends.

And most importantly of all, happy living!

Let me tag some Gaia friends. I really wish that together we will all become as successful as we can be! All in our own way. And all because we share this passion. For Gaia. Tag me in your Gaia stories and I’ll be reading…
