Reading Is the Ultimate Self-help for Those Who Have No help
When reading is the only help you have

Sometimes reading is the only help around. That’s why reading has become the most important part of my self-help routine. It gives me a break from the real world. It gives me a chance to walk away from all of the ugliness of the world for at least a little while.
It’s an effective tool for tuning out the news, logging off of Facebook, and turning down the noise that is constantly trying to notify me the country is on the verge of internal combustion.
Whether I’m getting lost in a fantasy novel, trying to solve a mystery, or learning about an inspirational figure, reading provides a much-needed temporary escape from it all.
When I’m engaged in a book, my mind, body, and soul have a much-needed chance to relax, rest, recuperate, and get ready for whatever comes next.
Reading feeds and expands the mind so that you can come up with creative ideas to navigate the challenges of the world.
Reading replaces time spent on social media where every page you click is triggering and distracting. Watching people live their lives makes it seem like mine is standing still. Reading is “help” for the mental body.
When I don’t know what to do, I read. With the current events of the planet, it is so easy to feel overwhelmed with life. Actually, current events of the world are overwhelming and stressful.
I read when I’m about to lose it! I read when I‘m terrified. I read when I don’t see the point of anything. I read when I’m tired. I read when I have thoughts of giving up writing.
Tossing and turning at 1 am because my mind is wide awake from reading. Feeling restless because the mind craves more. More information. More help.
Reading is the basic form of self-help, you know?
I open a world of millions of articles and I get to read them all if I wanted!
But too much of everything they say is bad, right? You can’t help it. You need help so you keep reading.
Did too much reading ever hurt anybody?
Reading is healing. Reading is learning. Reading is teaching and educating. As long as you use discernment and pick stories that build you up, reading is informational.
Being mindful of the information you consume is the trick.
Social media is interesting. When you see it you think about it. It keeps you on edge because it’s crazy times! Not knowing what to believe. Not knowing what is going to happen.
Life is stressful but reading is centering.
It centers the “self”. It distracts the mind and brings it in alignment with the other parts of the body.
While reading feeds the mental mind, the other parts of the body can’t be neglected. The physical body, the emotional body, the mental body, and the spiritual body. All in harmony with each other.
Reading has the power to bring all the parts of the “self” in unison.
Reading can be quite addicting. When it is used as a form of escape from the crazy world.
Knowing when to stop and take a break is key. Taking a moment to breathe. When you hear take a deep breath and count to four you go “Ah, cut the crap. Not now!” but breathing works and is good for the soul.
Taking a deep breath in frightening times works. It can save you from yelling at someone. Deep and mindful breathing brings the soul and body in touch with the chaotic mental mind.
When all three components of the “self” need help, there is help available.
Read to help your mind. Breathe deeply to help your soul. And take a break or go for a quick walk to help your body.
Read. Breathe. Walk.
If you have no help, there is help at all times.
