Reading About Dinosaurs
Reading books about dinosaurs is oddly comforting, The world on fire now, the world on fire then,
Twinning perhaps, One flame a rock from space
Exploding onto earth One flame
The earth itself Exploding because of us
Mass extinction is not new, Certainly,
However as far as I can tell No other species has ever actively
Done themselves in, As quickly, as deeply, as fully
As we have, are doing, will keep doing; We stay busy,
Digging up the bones Learning nothing
Using the fossil juice To pollute and abuse,
This comfort is strange, I’ll admit it; They were here for 180 million years
We won’t be Spoiler alert.
