Bread and Circuses
A Poem
The second I pick up a book About global warming Or politics Or racism Or nature
It is already outdated By the live action horror show That is the global news The ongoing play by play of now
It is already almost nearly irrelevant We thought losing bees was the end of it Now we have to think about losing the Amazon In real time This moment
We thought the election last time was bad and unfair and rigged and racist and Ghoulish Well watch out America, here she comes, Election 2020
We forget we forget We constantly and predictably forget We can’t keep up with the bread or the circus It’s coming for us all It never stopped
