Reaching The Summit On The Journey Of A Lifetime

I can see the top.

As I adjust my bags and catch my breath I stare up at the summit. I’ve been climbing this mountain for the past few days, but it feels like a lifetime.

I prepared for this, I trained for this. Yet the climb has been harder than I expected. I’ve slipped and fallen, I’ve scraped my knees. A few times I thought all hope was lost.

But now my goal is within reach. I’m not there yet, but I’m closer than I’ve ever been.

During the climb, I’ve thought about my old life, the comfort and security that normal life brings. But then I remembered how depressed I was, how lonely and pathetic my old life was.

I finally have a goal worth fighting for, and I’m closer to reaching it than anything in the past.

I don’t know what’s on the other side of this mountain, no clue what the future has in store.

All I know is I’m excited and hopeful, hopeful for a better life. The sun shining over the peak of the mountain leads the way.

My will and desire are what keep me going.

It’s only a matter of time, to turn from darkness to sublime.
