PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Rainy Hours in Thailand and Skydiving Between Sunrise and Sunset
Week 79 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
Another week in Thailand has come to an end. And once again this is proof of how time is flying when you’re having fun. Our days here are counted. Just a bit over a month is left until we fly back to Germany.
But until then we’ll be enjoying our time in this hot and humid place.
You can’t say the rainy season has started. It doesn’t rain every day. But clouds are building up every other day and now and then they burst into a massive cloud break.
Today’s rain lasted for almost three hours. That was for sure the longest rain we experienced since arriving in December.

Another day at work. I had trained up a new student for his first jump and together with my husband we jumped out of the plane together. We had to work hard to keep him stable during his first solo skydive but that is our job after all.

Today we were celebrating a friend’s birthday and just as we wanted to leave the restaurant they surprised us with the best birthday cake ever.
I was a little too slow on my camera and missed the shot with the candles still on the cake. But look at this creation, a cake created out of a watermelon and decorated with Apple slices and a small piece of Dragon fruit. Very simple, but healthy and refreshing.

Another day in my life captured from sunrise to sunset. The picture of the rising sun was captured from my bedroom window. The one at sunset was taken after work on our landing area.

My student is progressing fast. Today was his second jump on Level 3. During this jump, the instructors do release him to see if he can fall stable on his own. We’re still there, within a hand reach so that in case he starts to spin or turn on his back we can grab him again.
I loved this moment of the skydive because my husband was nodding and smiling at me. The student was keeping his heading and falling stable. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your student progress.

We went to a friend’s house today for a barbeque. Together with a group of skydivers, we were chatting the afternoon away and almost missed the setting sun.
When I looked up from the table I saw what seemed to be burning. Like a burning fire in the sky, the sun was nearing the horizon with fiery red and orange colors.

At first, it was just raining. Nothing unusual in Thailand. But then it got loud. Thunder was rolling in. I could see the lightning from my bed. It wasn’t far. The thunder was very loud. Somehow frightening.
I’ve experienced big thunderstorms before. Even in the mountains. Nothing scarier than that. But this was still special.
The rain has been going on for over an hour now. Sometimes it slows down letting me think it will stop soon. But then it rains harder and harder again. Until the loud bang.
I guess I won’t be going out today.
More time to write instead.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge in summer 2020 and many have participated ever since.
