PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Geese on the Beach and Other Exotic Encounters in Thailand
Week 77 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
Initially, I never wanted to visit Thailand. I connected the country with a crowded and very touristy destination. My husband convinced me of the opposite. In 2018 we came for a two-week vacation. Since then we’ve spent twice several months living in this country.
Just the way I travel anywhere else in the world, I also find my off-the-beaten-path destinations in Thailand. I travel and explore where most others don’t go to.
Well, and my work is a little unconventional too. This is me. At work.
Whenever I take a passenger on a tandem skydive, I hand them the toggles to steer the canopy. They absolutely love it. Flying circles in the sky and controlling where we’re flying.

I hadn’t taken a picture all day long and was tired from work. We just stopped at the convenience store of 7/11 when I looked across the street and saw the rays of sunshine appearing behind the clouds.

Most fun are those jumps when I’m filming my husband in the air. We know each other and our movements so well and really enjoy working together. In this picture, it almost looks like he is having more fun than the passenger.
The clouds were quite spectacular this afternoon. They help for great photographs but can also ruin it all if I don’t set my camera right (I have a stills camera mounted to the top of my helmet and take pictures with the help of a tongue switch.)

And when you work hard, you also play hard.
Today after work, we just sat there under the tree in the shade and were watching the sun go down while some paragliders were having fun in the air.

Guess what? It’s been too long since our last visit to an island and so we decided to head out and explore again. We arrived on Koh Larn in the afternoon and I still enjoyed a beautiful sunset paddle before the night began.

The following day we explored the coastline of the island with our kayak and paddleboard. We went swimming, snorkeling, and even played in the water with some geese.
Wait, what?
Yes, you heard right. I was also confused at first. We were having lunch when I heard the sound of what seemed like a geese farm. Then I saw them. Three geese were slowly making their way down the beach.
I couldn’t believe it. Geese on the beach? I had never seen or heard of something like that before. And they kept going. They went straight for the ocean.
Chatting loudly they let everyone know the geese were taking over this tropical beach and the crystal clear water now.

It was a short but adventure-filled trip to the island. Two nights went by too quickly and it was time for us to head back again. But not before I went on a short walk along the coastline soaking in the views one last time with this crystal clear water in the lovely bay.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge in summer 2020 and many have participated ever since.
