Quite a Spike

April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Graffiti & Street Art”

Flying rhinos? Someone spiked the drinks.

This mural is by Melbourne based artist Mike Maka.

It’s on the wall of Adelaide’s iconic music and comedy venue, Rhino Room, and I acknowledge the rhino has foliage beneath its brilliant feet and isn’t flying. But when you stand on the street and look up, a purple rhino sails above you.

Maka’s phenomenal artwork is scattered across South Australia, including some nature-themed paintings on silos. His work is featured around the world and is renowned. My photography is not. My phone camera could never do this fabulous purple rhinoceros justice—it is a piece to behold. If Maka has street art flying near you, seek it out!

Thank you for this fantastic challenge, Mary Chang Story Writer.
