April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Graffiti & Street Art”
Ran into a wall… of brightness.
In 2020, while the world battled Covid, my husband fought cancer. He was hospitalised; my children weren’t allowed to visit him (Covid restrictions), I had no one to look after them—I felt like we’d hit a brick wall.
Enter: 2021. Pronounced a “miracle man” by doctors, my love returned home. :)
On a Saturday, I drove my daughter to Nexus Arts in the city to rehearse for a drama production. We were running late: no car parks at the venue. We parked a few blocks away and hurried along the streets until we reached the wall of the Nexus Arts centre. I realised I was looking at a reversed idiom — a brick wall existing to elevate, not encumber.
It seemed so bountiful that artists had given such brightness to our day, to a wall. I could almost have eaten the lovely, painted bricks. You’ll be happy to know I photographed them instead.
Thanks so much for the inspiration, Mary Chang Story Writer. This is my first time writing a six-word story. I happily hold you responsible for the pleasure. ;).
