Quick Midjourney Update: 5 key highlights to know (20th September 2023)
Keeping up with the rapid changes and developments
Here’s a quick rundown of the most recent Midjourney Weekly Office Hours:
(1) Midjourney V5.3
- There is no set release date, and whether it will be called V5.3 is unclear.
(2) Midjourney V6
- The expected features are the same as in the previous update. The release date has yet to be determined.
- There is no 3D feature between the V6 and V7.
(3) Website
- The phase one website has similar functionality to the current website, but it is faster, has a better design, and has improved search and image navigation.
- The second phase of the website will include image creation and social features.
(4) Ongoing and future projects
- Faster image generation will be implemented for all members, beginning with the top-tier membership.
- A new describe-like feature is being developed.
- A new upscaler that doubles the resolution is in development. Internal testing will begin the following Monday. There is no release date yet.
- Niji’s aesthetic will be improved based on data collection.
(5) Other updates
- Cyberjungle recently shared his “Atomic Prompting” cinematic prompting technique that provides a structure for composing elements into a prompt. His video is informative, given that he covered the entire workflow from image creation to video trailer production. The video is more suitable for intermediate and advanced Midjourney users.
- It’s refreshing to see Midjourney in action for a product label design. Read a story by Arne Schuldt about how Midjourney worked with a human Lead Designer to co-create the label for a Mountain Gin called “The Flying Duck.”
