Promptly Written’s Reader’s Choice Top Writers For August

Who were the writers you loved the best this month?

Image by Joshua Golde on Unsplash

Before we get started, can I just say that regardless of the image, each and every one of our writers here at Promptly Written deserved an award. You are the writers who show up to the blank page even when you are unsure of what you want to say, and knowing only that the urge to create won’t go away until you use it. The blank page can be a daunting space for all writers, so to seek out prompts and inspiration when your imagination departs on holiday takes determination and self-belief. So, the next time the voice of doubt creeps in, remind yourself that you’re a person who keeps entering the arena, even when it’s hard.

And now…

What a month August has been!

You’ve had prompts galore and wow did you all respond with gusto. So, let’s get down to it and see what the stats for July have shown about your tastes and the work that you most seek out within the pages of Promptly Written.

TOP POET FOR JULY

Due to her excellence in the field of poetry, you have honored

Bella Smith ⭐

Although our wonderful Bella is one of the PW editorial team, her writing this month (and to be honest every month) could not be denied, especially when you responded as clearly as you have this month. Bella has an incredible gift for poetry, one that you will be glad you opened the door to.

TOP FICTION WRITER FOR JUNE

Due to her excellence in the field of fiction, you have honored

Neera Handa Dr

For the second month in a row you have voted loudly in your claps for the talented Neera, and this piece is sweet and genuinely touching. I have to say though, that this was a brilliant month for short stories so do click on the ‘Fiction’ section in our header bar and enjoy a little escapsim.

TOP ESSAYIST FOR JUNE

Due to her excellence in the field of essay writing, you have honored

May More 💜 Tales

Our theme for August was freedom and we had some truly beautiful responses, the one you liked the best was this, and I think it was because we can all connect and resonate with her experiences and the desperate need to find space to be fully ourselves.

TOP ARTICLE WRITER FOR JUNE

Due to her excellence in article writing, you have honored

Frances A. Chiu

In this deeply self-reflective piece, Frances delves into her lived daily experience of being Asian in modern culture. There is so much for readers to learn from her writing, not just of the Asian experience and the difficulties of racism in 2023, but also in how we reflect on our own lives and the impact we have on others.

So there you have it, were your favourite reads among those selected?

Has this list of top writers for the month given you a greater insight into what the readers are looking for?

Get writing and keep those stories coming in, I can’t wait to see where your reading power will take us next month!
