Prince Edward Island, Canada-Our Latest Destination, Eh
Volume 5-The Summer Fun Continues

For those of you following my docu-series you may have been trying to guess our next destination on our summer vacation adventure. Maybe not, lol. Anyway, now you know.
After a long drive yesterday (525 miles) we have settled in at our latest destination. For those of you who have never been, Prince Edward Island (PEI) is a wonderful location. We have been here many times; the last being 2019.

One of Our Favorite Vacation Spots
Our first visit was around 1984 or 1985, before our kids were born. At the time , we weee tent camping and came here after a trip to Quebec City and up and around the Gaspe Peninsula. We then discovered PEI. Back then, it was only accessible by ferry across the Northumberland Strait.
We began camping here in the late 1980s for several years with our daughter and our first pop-up camper. We then returned in the late 1990s with the addition of our son and a brand new popup camper. We made numerous trips that included New Brunswick, PEI, and or Nova Scotia.

In 1997, the 8 mile long Confederation Bridge opened up connecting New Brunswick to PEI. This massive bridge took over 4 years to complete. This speeds up the trip since waiting and riding the ferry is no longer part of the equation.

If you enjoy seafood, potatoes (one of the main industries here), beautiful scenery, and wonderful beaches, this is the place for you. One of the highlights for us is the PEI National Park on the North Side of the island. It has miles of beaches, roads, trails, and scenic views. Two of our favorite beaches are Cavendish and Brackley.
Wonderful Day at Brackley Beach
After breakfast and a little shopping, we spent the day at Brackley Beach. Although it was cooler than it was in Maine, it was sunny and breezy with lower humidity. The ocean temperature is warmer here than in Maine, probably the upper 70s to low 80s.

Many think that since this a lot further North, the ocean would be even colder. However, the currents here bring in much warmer water.

A Few Stops Before the Beach
For breakfast , we went to the Tides and Tales Bistro in North Rustico. It is a new bistro/bookstore that serves breakfast and lunch. We really liked the place both for the atmosphere and food. It has ample seating inside and out. We will return for sure. The coffee is to die for.

We then visited The Great Canadian Soap Company on the way back to the hotel. We love goat milk soap as we currently use products from Beekman 1802, located in Sharon Springs, NY, only about an hour and a half from our home.
This store also had a great variety of goat milk products, which we find very beneficial to our skin.

It was another great day on our trip. Stay tuned. Tomorrow is our last day here in PEI. Then on to the next, as they say.
