Power BI Reports in Power Apps
How Microsoft wants to integrate Self Service BI in Office Products

Good news for all data lovers in the Microsoft world, because Power BI elements are now to be linked even more with Office applications — Microsoft has officially announced:
Now App makers can add Power BI reports and datasets as Dataverse components in Power Apps solutions, improving the export, import, and customization process. Solutions are a Power Platform tool that enables users to deploy applications built using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and other Power Platform services. — Microsoft Power BI Blog [1]

That means that in Power Apps, you can now add Power BI report and dataset components from Power BI work spaces just like any other Dataverse component. After you added a Power BI report, it will detect any dependency between the report and relevant dataset and add the dependent dataset automatically [1].
This fits quite well with the strategy that Microsoft has been following for a few months now. The focus here is clearly on the better integration of Power BI with other Office products and apps and is thus intended to advance the self-service idea in companies.
Microsoft took a similar step with the integration of Power BI with its Teams Mobile apps a few weeks ago. Together with some other important features you can clearly see and strategy of Microsoft here.
But this course from Microsoft also makes sense, because companies want to become more data driven and equip their employees with skills and tools around the topic of data analytics and business intelligence. Other competitors such as Google and others are taking a similar approach. If you are interested in this topic and also work with Power BI, you might be interested in the following article.
