Positive Affirmations for Gratitude
“I am grateful for all the small things.”

Every day, I close my eyes to meditate for at least ten minutes. If I’m not in a good mood, I say these affirmations to boost my positivity and express gratitude.
Recently, I wrote an article titled “The Art of Gratefulness,” published in Soul Magazine, joining their 30-Day Gratitude Challenge this November.
We talked about how the world around us often pushes us toward negativity. Cultivating gratitude has become a powerful tool to reshape our mindset and boost our mood.
Fostering a positive outlook is really helpful; however, I often observe people thinking it’s really hard to be positive in the midst of chaos. And I understand that.
But if you did the exercise at the beginning of “The Art of Gratefulness,” you must’ve seen the influence words have on our well-being.
If not, let’s do it again. Say these words out loud and witness the energy of words.
“I love you.”
“I hate you.”
“I love myself.”
“I hate myself.”
That’s why affirmations are powerful and easy! You just say them in your head, out loud, or write them down as much as you can.
When we catch ourselves stuck in a negative thought, dwelling on complaints, or feeling like victims of circumstances, positive affirmations redirect our thoughts towards gratitude.
Here are my favorite affirmations that I love saying to recognize the beauty of life and cultivate gratitude.
I may also include a short description below of some affirmations to let you know why I think they’re powerful.

- I am grateful for waking up today.
Remember, so many people did not wake up today.
I faced this reality even more when I lost my dad on November 13th, 2022. When I looked up his name in the system to find his death certificate, I saw hundreds, if not thousands, of people who didn’t wake up that day.
And this was only a list of people who died in Istanbul, specifically on November 13th, 2022.
Be grateful for opening your eyes to this beautiful day today.
2. I am grateful for my loved ones.
You can specify this by saying you’re grateful for your partner, mom, dad, parents, grandparents, kids, friends, pets, etc.
3. I am thankful for the strength within me.
Sometimes, I add this after: “I can overcome any obstacle that comes my way.”
4. Today, I choose gratitude over fear.
5. I am grateful for the love and support I have in my life.
Remember, even if you think no one loves you or supports you, there’s probably one person who does. Cherish them. Be grateful for their presence.
6. With each breath, I inhale gratitude. With each exhale, I release negativity.
This affirmation is especially powerful when you do this over and over again during your meditation.
Sometimes, I change this to, “I inhale gratitude now. I exhale negativity from my body now.” And sync your breathing with these words.
7. I am grateful for the simple joys in my life.
I like saying this in my head when I’m walking with my dog in nature, looking out the window, reading a book, listening to good music, or having the most beautiful and exciting conversation with loved ones. These are simple joys in my life.
What are yours?
8. I am an optimistic person.
Even if you’re not, just say it and believe that you are.
9. I am happy and fulfilled as I am.
10. I am grateful for my mind, body, and soul.
Embrace these affirmations and let them fill you with positive energy on the journey to a more grateful and positive outlook on your life.
Let’s replace negative thoughts with these gratitude affirmations and watch how we transform our lives.
