Random Word Drabble Challenge Day 81 Word Is Directed.

As directed, when the horn blared, we ran to designated positions with our weapons at the ready.
The military term for this madness just before dawn was “stand-to.” Since most battles start just before the sun comes up, we prepared for it.
In our platoon, a new arrival thought he was something special. Corporal Standish was quite high on himself.
One morning, when the horn blared, he ran full throttle across the field, screaming his battle cry, only to run into a Korean farmer’s open poop pit.
He lost all credibility after that, as everyone called him Corporal Stinky.
Remember, this is fiction, any resemblance to a Corporal Stinky, living or dead, is a coincidence.
For this drabble, the random word to build the story around is “directed.”
