POMprompt #4 — Intrusions

Tell us your stories in verse.

Intrusion

This weekend I’m sitting here just “minding my business” when my son’s father brings him home. He has to use the restroom.

In. My. House.

I cannot say that I am happy about the intrusion of my ex-husband walking through my front door, down my hallway, and using a toilet that I have to clean.

Ick.

How uncomfortable.

Sometimes, things or people intrude on our happy bubbles and it just shakes us loose. Your prompt is to tell a story of intrusion. Tell it in verse. Whatever poetic form you choose. But tell your story with emotion, depth, and give us something meaningful. Let us get to know who you are through reading about your experience.

Don’t forget to link this post at the bottom of your entry and tag your entry #POMprompt.

Here is a great example of a poem that is all about an intrusion on my otherwise perfectly wonderful bubble bath:

Here is a little bit of information about how to submit POMprompts and take part in the Poets on Medium (POM) Facebook group. We are taking part this month in POMwrimo and we are working on creating personal chapbooks! Come join us!
