Poetry is Vomit

This poem LONG predates my Medium account, but it belongs to Lamb the author behind it. Adrian CDTPPW’s Poetry is Not a Must article describing the challenges of writing good poetry reminded me of this poem I wrote back in 2012.

Poetry is vomit that spills outside my mouth words bubble up inside me Till I have to spew them out The words are not set softly But violently contained Within this champagne bottle They cannot be arranged until that soft explosion Festively bursts forth leaving a tacky sticky mess I must mop off the porch

This image of my hands, feet, and slime is from my photoshoot with Slimelord206 (his Instagram @ as he is not on Medium). It is neither vomit or poetry. At one point I had a Neo-concrete image of this poem. I can picture clearly the words formed into a shape of a champagne bottle, but I can’t find the old file.

If you like Lamb’s writing, I appreciate claps, comments, and time spent reading. If you want to support me more directly, I do have a linktree with some money apps and my social media accounts. This particular poem was originally included on her website www.lostlittlelamb.com that admittedly has not been updated in a very long time.
