Plastic Coverings- Can this protect people from getting coronavirus?

Clear plastic covers are used with many transportations including taxis, jeepneys, and motorcycles in Davao City Philippines.

What are these plastic coverings for? Is to keep the social distancing between passengers and the drivers. Will this work?

But I have a different approach to the situation and in fact, I am glad this is implemented.

Welcome to Davao, the southern part of the Philippines.

Davao City is the home of President Rodrigo Duterte.

This is how the transportation of Davao looks like today.

This is a taxi that has a plastic covering and a window for receiving money.

The plastic coverings were implemented by the city mayor. I am not exactly sure if this would work to prevent viruses such as the coronavirus contact with the driver and the passenger.

Some motorcycles and jeepneys have the same plastic coverings.

The worst part is, with a single motorcycle, the plastic covers in between the driver and passenger. So, if the driver is the husband, and behind him is the wife, both need to have a plastic cover between them while on the run.
