Personal Branding & Writing — Medium

When starting out on Medium, you don’t need to rush into growing an audience — Focus on building your personal brand first.

If you do not have a writing style or niche, no need to sweat it. Start out by writing on topics that interest you — As time progresses, they will both begin to develop.

Since joining Medium, I have established myself as a writer that writes with the collective in mind.

I feel like I was always on personal brand, even though I didn’t have a set writing style or niche.

My About page has been updated. Now, I understand myself as an intuitive writer — I don’t question myself and my writing nearly as much as I did when starting out on Medium.

I write short-form content — I may write long-form content:

My personal brand gives me this flexibility.

You want your writing to stand out — Develop your own writing style (write in your authentic voice).

Grow with the platform — Be aware of new updates, like the blue “Book Author” badge if you’re an author. That’s sure to bring readers your way.
