Persistence Is Not The Root Of Success

Perhaps, truly loving a woman is, who knows…

Persistence, hard work, blah-blah-blah, heard it all. Not everything can be the root of success. That’s not possible. Next, people are going to say Oreo’s are the key to success — which has my vote.

You can be persistent with training a lion, but if you are using Kibbles N' Bits and not the raw material a real animal needs...

You can be persistent with computer engineering, with a computer that doesn’t hold the necessary RAM.

You can be persistent with trying to make rain clouds over California, but do not have money for a laboratory and staff.

You can be persistent with learning to play the piano, but if you are blind and do not have money for an experienced blind coach, then you are right where you started.

You can be persistent in building a company, but if do not know to register the company in the state, then Amazon takes all of your products that you spent 35 years making. Now that’s some #Success

You can be persistent with creating the perfect parachute, but if you do not have the mental capacity to understand to use a dummy first and you try it out on yourself…

You cannot be successful if you starve to death.

In jail because of it.

Or dead.

The only way that persistence creates success is if someone already knows what steps to take and be persistent in. Even if that means being persistent in research in order to find the steps. But that means someone needs to learn how to research correctly.

So let’s change the erroneous statement that makes me want to gag, to:

“persistence in the right keys creates success”.

When I’m coaching people, we developed the How. I don’t care where people want to end up, I don’t care if someone wants to be Tarzan, I will get them exactly where they want to be. That’s not the question. I can help a blind person play the piano. It all comes down to how. Now, there may not be a how right now, but it’s due diligence to find out.

I remember being persistent learning to play drums when I was a teen. I was still the shittiest one in my church. I could play better when I had confidence, the confidence I gained while in the military — and without practicing for 5 years. I still jumped right in and played for a small church in Pennsylvania right out of the gate (with a double-bass kick). Persistence had nothing to do with starting. Starting is where success begins. And starting correctly requires a lot of principles, like the components of an engine. Persistence is just potential torque and horsepower inside of a broken engine.

Is Medium the right platform to highlight one of my companies? I don’t know.

I was persistent with this story on Medium:

I got like $2. My persistence with structuring this from all my notes was more than 90% of stories I’ve read on Medium.

I can be as persistent as I want to be on Medium, but I can’t build a house on pretzels. Is Medium pretzels? I don’t know. I’ve lived a life with enough experience for 3 people, but still well-written generic statements stamped with a really long personal story no one asked for gets more promotion than me. I might be in the wrong place and to be persistent here might drive me off a cliff.

“But I was persistent!”

One last note here, I hate the term “fake it till you make it”. There are no words to describe how stupid that is. Try this instead:

“develop yourself until you make it”.

If you fake it, you always are going to fake it. But if you develop yourself, you can make it. Be persistent in ALL the areas that make a man or woman great. One hint for men here: Wars make men and kill off the weak like natural selection. Without a war, women, you are probably marrying a man who will become abusive. Men must have a war and men must be persistent in developing the traits of a warrior.

See, that is how the word “persistence” is used.

Let’s look at some truths of what men are:

Persistence
Life Lessons
Self Improvement
Self Love
Know Thyself Heal Thyself
