Summary

Gene's life is characterized by perpetual dissatisfaction and complaining, which may inadvertently contribute to his continuous stream of negative experiences.

Abstract

Gene is depicted as a chronically dissatisfied individual who finds fault with nearly every aspect of his life, from his job and co-workers to his family, relationships, and even the service at a fast-food restaurant. He is consumed by a cycle of negative thoughts and complaints, which seem to perpetuate the very circumstances he laments. Despite having friends, Gene suspects they harbor ill feelings towards him and engage in deceitful behavior. His neighbor's inconsiderate actions add to his daily frustrations. Gene's sister manipulates him with her problems, his father is an unsupportive alcoholic, and past romantic relationships have left him feeling betrayed. The narrative suggests that Gene's negative mindset could be attracting more negativity into his life, as per the law of attraction, yet he remains oblivious to this possibility.

Perpetually Aggrieved

A ‘which came first?’ kind of thing

Gene had a lot to complain about. And he was constantly complaining, whether to others or silently in his head.

He had a deplorable job. His co-workers were always scheming against him. The pay was barely enough to cover his expenses and kept him poor. The management did not like him and were very unfair. The work was hard and wore him down.

Gene’s neighbor in the apartment building was loud and obnoxious. If she wasn’t playing her music loudly she was yelling and screaming. And she never parked centered in her parking spot. Since Gene’s parking spot was right next to hers this made it difficult for him to park.

He had a very manipulative sister who constantly called him and texted him about all her problems and then berated him when he couldn’t solve those problems for her.

His father was a drunk and never gave Gene the guidance he needed.

Women all seemed to hate him. Whenever he got friendly with one they would eventually betray him. And they all gossiped about him constantly.

And that one worker at the fast-food restaurant where he often ate always short-changed him on food portions.

Gene’s friends, Tammy and Randy, always acted friendly but he was convinced that they hated him. They were always doing bad things to him behind his back and spreading lies about him to others.

His life situation would have been better if it wasn’t for Franklin. He thought Franklin was a friend but Franklin betrayed him at every turn. Not only did Franklin keep him from getting a better job but he also chased away one of Gene’s girlfriends by telling her lies about Gene.

Gene’s life situation was so bad that he could complain about it all day long. And he did. If he was not interacting with others, and complaining to them, the thoughts in his head flowed in a perpetual loop pattern of complaining. His life was an endless pity party. And if he ever got tired of the constant whining in his head about his own problems all he had to do was turn on the news and he instantly had plenty of new things to complain about.

Gene was so very tired at the end of each day. It was no wonder that he was sick a lot. And he only had another day of the same thing to look forward to.

Every thought in our head creates a neuron firing that gives energy to that thought. The thought then goes out into our electromagnetic field where it sits and attracts from the infinite field of possibilities that which supports that thought. Eventually, the thought is then reabsorbed into the body.

Gene thought that all his many grievances were justified reactions to all the bad things that were constantly happening to him. It never occurred to him that all the bad things that were constantly happening to him might be the result of his perpetual complaining and all the negative thoughts he played over and over and over in his head, thereby putting them out into his field to be manifested by the universe.

It never occurred to Gene that he might have it all backwards. And therefore he had no idea how to change his life situation.
