Paths in nature -part 1

A selection of photos while walking in natural scenarios.

A cousin of mine is a fan of photos of trails, routes, and ways through natural landscapes. Hence each time I have a nice view of one, I send him photos. Here’s a small selection of photos that depict not only the trails themselves (in some cases actually barely noticeable) but also the landscapes that inspired the shots.

The first two photos were taken in two Canary Islands: Fuerteventura, a large arid island with beautiful beaches and dunes, that looks much like a continuation of Africa; and Tenerife, an island where you can find all the possible climates and hosts Spain’s highest summit: mount Teide -technically a volcano, and quite active!

Next, two photos of my adoptive country, Switzerland, during its green times. The first photo was shot above Montreux during a hike up Les Rochers de Naye, dedicated to spotting wildflowers (reported in this and this story, and presenting an Alpine garden in this one!). The second photo was shot just a short walk away from my home, in a forest that belongs to the city of Lausanne next to the shores of Lac Leman (get to know the lake in this story).

A walking trail shot in the early spring, when the “wild garlic” or “ail des ours” (literally “garlic of bears”, with which you can prepare a quite good pesto -story to come!) is at its splendor, near Lausanne (Switzerland). Photo by author Luciano Abriata.

Next a shot on a nature trail near one of my favorite places in the world, in my home country, Argentina. The region has developed just enough to have all the basic services yet be quiet and remaining a touristic destination. There are many hiking (and biking, as you see) trails ranging in altitude from 900 to 2000 m. above see level:

This next one is from a trip to Morocco, close to a city that reminded me very much about places like Mendoza, San Juan, or the arid regions of San Luis in Argentina:

Here’s my other “mother” country, Italy, with one photo in each of its two main islands. First in Sardinia, reaching one of its most beautiful beaches, in the very northwest. The second photo is in Sicily, as we walked through the ruins of an ancient Greek palace.

I end this story back in Switzerland, but during its winter. Most precisely, in February close to La Chaux-de-Fond, one of the coldest regions of the country, in canton Neuchatel. These two shots are from a long snowshoe hike we did on a very cold day after days of intense snowfall.
