Part-Time Online Writers Need To Know This Simple #1 Productivity Technique

Being all-in doesn’t mean you do Medium and only Medium.

Overwhelm keeps online writers from winning.

When we try to do too many things at once we accomplish nothing.

That’s why it’s so important to narrow your focus.

I’m a huge fan of side hustles.

As you may know, I work for my side hustle from 7 pm to 11ish pm in the evening.

So naturally, I’m a huge fan of online writing being a part-time thing.

I know. Finding content ideas, planning out articles, drafting, and editing can seem like an endless amount of work.

But it doesn’t have to feel like this.

It really doesn’t need to take over your entire life.

You can very well manage it alongside everything else.

Here’s my simple #1 technique

The way forward is content batching.

What’s content batching?

Content batching is a productivity technique. You create all your content during a set period of time.

While this may sound like more work, it’s actually the opposite.

How does content batching go?

made with Canva
  • Pick a specific day or maybe 1–2 times a week.
  • Make this (tiger) time your non-negotiable.
  • Sit down, and draft 2–5 articles at a time.
  • Focus your creative energy without jumping from task to task — meaning e.g. answering comments, searching for images on PikWizard

What are the benefits of content batching?

My husband told me about this and it’s honestly game-changing.

Not only for online writing but also in regard to creating online courses.

This way you don’t need to keep setting things up, again and again, every time you want to get 30–60 minutes of filming done.

Extra special tip — Use a Social Media Content Planner

I think a social media content planner is one of the most important tools for every content creator.

As a Brand Manager and former Marketing Consultant, my number one tool is Excel.

Excel can be listed as the most underutilized tool.

Effectively planning your content is an ongoing cycle. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Dedicate a specific period of time per week to this one task — planning your content in advance.
