Panties on the Beach
The rain was coming down hard!
She walked quickly for she knew it would start raining at any moment. It is not that she was afraid of rain. Not long ago she walked through a downpour and enjoyed it immensely. But she was wearing her most expensive ensemble; something that she rarely wore except for very important occasions.
What she really wanted to do was go home and change into jean shorts and a t-shirt then go for a walk in the forthcoming rain. She had much to celebrate.
The executive meeting went very well and she landed a huge corporate account that could very well catapult her carrier into high gear. She wanted to celebrate and she could think of no better way to celebrate than to walk barefoot on the beach in a strong cleansing downpour.
She wanted to wash away all the doubts that clung to her like like an odor her whole life. She wanted to wash away all the nay-saying she had received from her friends and family and co-workers. She wanted to wash away that voice inside her head that kept telling her that she did not deserve success or happiness.
She had overcome incredible obstacles, most of which she had placed on herself. She set everything aside and did what she knew she had to do, becoming the person she always wanted to be. She was beyond jubilant.
He was standing leaning back against her car, towels under one arm and a bottle of champagne and two champagne flutes in his other hand. He was wearing a tuxedo with a white carnation in the lapel. His face was void of all expression.
When she saw him she smiled and waved her arms. That is when he started smiling.
As she reached him he said, “You did it, didn’t you?”
“You’re damn right I did it. I did it better than anyone in the world has ever done it!”
They fell into each other’s arms and kissed just as the first drops of rain began falling.
She pulled back, “Quick, let’s get in.” She unlocked her car door and got in the car, unlocking the passenger door. He ran around the car and got in.
“I knew you could do it. I just knew it. I just plain knew it. Didn’t I tell you that you would nail it?”
“Yes, honey, you were the only one who had confidence in me and I appreciate it so much. Listen, I’m gonna drive home so I can change out of this lucky blue dress then we can go down to the beach and celebrate the way God intended us to celebrate.” She started the car and headed out into traffic.
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!” he said. “I know that’s your lucky blue dress and everything but it has served its purpose. After all, you can’t wear it again. Let the rain wash it away. Hey, look at me. I’m wearing my freaking tuxedo. I’m ready to give it up in celebration. Forget about changing clothes. Clothes don’t matter, right? They’re just facades we put up. Release your dress. Give it up to the Universe. After today everything is new!”
“You know what? You’re right! I don’t need this dress anymore. Fuck it!” As the rain began pouring down on the windshield of the car she turned on a side road that led down to the beach.
“You know what?” he said. “These champagne flutes were a bad idea. It’s raining way too hard. We’ll just have to drink from the bottle.” He placed the flutes on the back seat of her car.
As she parked at the beach, she spoke up, “Okay, it’s raining really hard. I’ll leave my purse and the keys here in the car and you can leave your wallet. That way they won’t get soaked.”
“Girl, you never stop planning for a minute, do you?”
They got out of the car and were instantly soaked down to their skin. They walked along the beach passing the bottle of champagne back and forth. He still had the towels under his arm.
As their ‘secret’ spot came into view they stopped. She took off her lucky blue dress and tossed it in the ocean. He handed her the champagne and towels as he took off his tuxedo jacket, shirt and pants and tossed them into the ocean. Then they took off their shoes and tossed them into the ocean.
Their secret spot was a tiny patch of beach between two rock outcroppings. It was hidden away and not readily visible to others. It is where they made love for the first time a little over a year ago.
When they reached their ‘secret’ spot the underwear came off. She took off her bra and lucky panties and tossed them into the ocean. He took off his Jockeys and tossed them. The towels and champagne bottle fell to the sand. What little champagne was left in the bottle dribbled out to be washed away by the mighty ocean.
With their naked bodies on the wet sand and the rain pouring down on them, they made wild and passionate love. When they were finally finished they used the sopping wet towels to cover their naked bodies as they walked back to the car.
They were married three months later. For the rest of their lives whenever one of them was feeling a wee bit randy they would say, “It feels like a rainstorm is coming.” The other one would get excited and giggle.
The next day a wrinkled old man wearing a sailor’s cap was walking down the sunlit beach with his metal detector looking for treasure. In his peripheral vision he noticed something and he looked towards the water. He saw a blue dress and a tuxedo jacket wash up on the beach. A little further down the beach he saw a pair of black tuxedo pants washed up along with a lone black patent leather shoe and a pair of black panties.
“Oh dear! Oh my!” thought the old man. “I wonder what happened to those poor folk!”
