Pandemic Diaries

Here’s what I’ve learned during these challenging times.

Well, we didn’t know, we didn’t plan, and we didn’t expect that a pandemic was going to happen in 2020. Who knows? Who thought of it? 2020 was a big year, it’s a new decade, and for me, it was supposed to be a big year! I have planned everything out for that year, yet life has thrown rocks after rocks at you.

Despite the pandemic, and all plans cancelled, here are some things I have learned during the pandemic.

  1. God is everything. ->I am not religious, but bro, God is the only One that can control anything in the world. I’m not saying that He is controlling, but God can do everything and anything to the world to teach us. Think about what you learned in 2020, and we wouldn’t know them if the pandemic didn’t happen. The virus is not something that we should fear, and it is then when the Holy Spirit is gone.
  2. You’re not going to be always young. ->When I was a teenager, I thought it was going to be like that forever. I thought I was going to live with only $200 in my bank account. But being a young adult, I’ve realized how fast time is. As time goes by, our responsibilities are adding up. As time goes by, our bills are going up. We are not going to be young forever. We are growing and getting old. This is what my thoughts were during quarantine. I am not a freakin sixteen-year-old girl who works at a fast-food, and the only bill I had was my phone bill and nothing else.
  3. Always learn something new. ->Even if we are in quarantine, there are plenty of things that we can learn. It could learn a new language, cooking, painting or writing. Learn something new while you still can. Don’t let yourself be on a deathbed and regretting the things you didn’t learn.
  4. Someday is today ->You told yourself that you are going to read that book someday. You said to yourself that you are going to learn a new language eventually. You said to yourself that you are going to save money ultimately. But, someday, it is today. There is no such thing as someday. Someday is another term for delaying dreams and goals. Did you want to start a business eventually? Why not start today? I mean, start from the beginning. Learn about the company and other areas of business. If you keep telling yourself that you will do something great someday, you are only delaying it.
  5. Go out and get some fresh air. ->You wouldn’t know when would be your last time to take fresh air. We’ve all been locked in our homes, maybe not all of us. But most of us stayed at home during the pandemic so that the virus won’t spread. We felt like getting a sun rase is illegal.

6. Don’t get mad ->When we are angry, we often blasted out to someone, then, later on, we’d feel bad for being angry. Be angry but hold your tongue, because you wouldn’t be able to take the words you said.

7. Life is too short ->Take every chance you have. Love and forgive as much as you can. If you wanted to be a writer and you wanted to publish an article, go for it! You wouldn’t know unless you try. Just dodge the bullet and have thick skin. Life is too short to stay the way you were six months ago.

8. Jobs are temporary ->When all countries went on lockdown and airlines laid off their employees, you knew it’s over. There’s nothing we could do but be in the flow of life. Jobs are temporary. Who would have thought that when you have invested so much time and energy into your career, eventually, you’ll lose all of it? You have no idea when you’re getting your job back. Will you be able to get it back or completely lose it? Some companies closed down due to COVID19.

9. Save money ->I was getting more income from my previous job until I quit. How do I wish I saved more while I was getting more money? I want to save more, at least 2$ or $100 bi-weekly, when I was getting paid more. Now, I only have a part-time job, and I am getting fewer hours due to the weather and the COVID19. I am earning less income with debts and no savings; how I wish to get the job, I had to save a couple more. But I can’t, and I had to leave that job for some reason. Once everything has cleared up, I will save money. I will have to live in frugal life for a while. But don’t let yourself live in cheap life. Resist the urge to buy shits you don’t need.

10. Your health is important ->they said only people who have a robust immune system would win in this pandemic. Right. But some people have complex conditions, and not everyone has a strong immune system. But even if we have problems with our health, we should take good care of ourselves. We only have one body, and we should take care of it because nobody will do it but ourselves.

Final thoughts: we all have been in this chaos for a year, and I honestly cannot wait to live an everyday life again. When things have cleared up, I know that it wouldn’t be the same again. The pandemic has shaped and molded us. We are not the same people we were a year ago. We all have been changed and learned a new perspective.
