HUMOR

Our New Rescue Dog is a Bootie Biter

Our new Jack-Chi puppy, Nugget, is absolutely stinking adorable and feisty as all can be. We rescued him at about eight weeks old and brought him home to meet Juno, our rescue mutt of about five years.

Nugget weighed 2.6 pounds when we adopted him. Three weeks later and he’s now a chunky five-pounder. Juno weighs fifty-five pounds. It’s a BIG size difference.

The bootie biter

You’d think Big Dog with the big loud bark would have the upper hand in a play fight, right?

Think again!

Nugget is boisterous and playful.

Juno is reserved and shy but likes other dogs.

Nugget is either unaware of his size or just plain ole fearless.

This small boi bites Juno in the behiney! Yep. He’ll nip her butt. And then he’ll yip in his fiercest, most playful “bark”…Aieee-yii-yippee-ee!!

At first, Juno will try to turn and get him off her derriere only to realize her body is too long. She can’t reach the small boi!

So, you’d think Nugget has the upper paw, right?

Think again!

What does Juno do when Nugget bites her bootie?

Why, she sits on him, of course! (Gently — she’s not a brute).

I don’t have siblings but I imagine this happens with human animals, too.

In fact, one asshole teenager once sat on my head and ripped a big one when I was laying down in the back seat of a car at the Classic 50s Drive-in….And, they say humans are the civilized species. Pashaw!

Nugget is a de-pantser, too…

Nugget has a special fondness for any pants I’m wearing. Pajama pants are his absolute favorite, followed by the ankle zippered pants. He likes to nip the zippers, pant bottoms, and my ankles.

Has he de-pantsed me yet? Well…there have been some unexpected half-moons.

David thinks it’s hilarious and is happy to see I’ve switched from wearing long pajama pants to the shortest exercise shorts I own…

The grass is always greener

Before Nugget, Juno had to be coaxed into playing with various chew toys. They just didn’t draw much interest from her.

Now that Nugget is here…He loves toys.

And, you know what it’s like to want what you don’t have!

Is there vicious fighting over these various toys? Nope. There’s a civilized tug-o-war. The pink pig, Mr. Fox, and a plain old backyard stick have served as game pieces.

True love

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog pairing! After the obstacles we had in integrating Juno into our family it has been a breath of fresh air (thank you, dog teeth cleaning treats!).

The dogs love each other! Juno knocks Nugget over with a flip of her paw or a nudge of her muzzle. Nugget shows his love by nipping her bootie and snapping at her mouth. To which Juno gently play-eats his head.

I guess it’s a bit like consensual human romantic relationships. Bootie biters often end up snuggling together. And, Juno and Nugget are happy doing just the same.
