Our First Anthology! (our gift to you this weekend)

And a writing and living prompt — to be a part of something larger than yourself.

Our anthology is live and free all weekend. Artwork by Trisha Traughber, cover design by Silvia Perrone.

I’ve been writing a lot about resilience lately

That splash of water when you are parched that keeps you going on a long journey.

And one of the things that keeps me going?

The knowledge that I am part of something larger than myself: the creative communities, the undertakings that put me in touch with inspiration…our shared humanity.

This project is an act of resilience first and foremost.

It’s a gift (from all of us) to you this weekend.

And?

I’m inviting you to take a plunge into something larger than yourself.

I have developed something of a news habit in the last months. I subscribe to two major newspapers, The New York Times and Le Monde.

It strikes me that never have we been so confronted by the harsh realities we face. But also?

Never, never have we had so much agency to reach into someone else’s lives and actually do something to help.

I am thinking, specifically about how some of the charities I support come back to me, keeping me informed about how they have fought voter suppression in the US or are providing emergency food relief to children around the world.

And then I stumbled upon this list of charities from an opinion page in the New York Times. Send a girl to school, give a kid in the US a fair shot at an education, repair someone’s sight…

I am in absolute awe at the way we can touch each other’s lives today.

So, take our creative offering.

Its pages are full of beauty and tiny windows into life, perspectives and voices from around the world — and from the depths too.

The Tip of the Iceberg is that finished sparkling thing that rises above the surface, giving just a glimpse of the creative endeavors beneath —every moment these artists spent living life and knowing it, each time they showed up on the page or the canvas, each thread they wove between themselves in encouragement and community.

Let it transport you.

And then? If you have something to give this world?

Consider a donation in the name of your favorite charity.

This is my creative living prompt for you today — be part of something larger than yourself.

I would love to hear from you in the comments or in your own story about some cause or charity you support, small or large, local or global. Something maybe the rest of us could get behind too.

Tell me in a story, the comments, in your own poem or collage.

Or just go out and live it — because sometimes that is just the thing.
