Before time a baby girl was born
A tiny scar

Before time a baby girl was born
Stormy ocean Sleepy houses Peaceful sky
Her fingers she moves like playing a piano
In the air she telegraphs her happiness
There is a tiny scar on a baby girl’s nose A mark left by the cpap mask From fighting in the ring
If you swipe your finger over her nose you barely feel a scar If you swipe over it a second time you acknowledge the fragility
For twenty-four weeks only she dreamed in mom’s womb Thirty one centimeters six hundred grams has come to light
Newborn like a goldfish she can’t breathe needs an incubator diaphanous aquarium
Newborn like a kitten her eyes are closed will open them in a week
There is a tiny scar on a baby girl’s nose
Now, if you touch your nose if you swipe your finger over it slowly Do you feel it? There is the same tiny scar
It is the fragility of being human
Which becomes life
