Ouch! Right in the Meme
Day 27 Preptober writing prompt challenge
Day 27: Which popular meme best describes/relates to your book?
Question from the Preptober 31 Day Challenge from the Character Collective.
Knot That Hot
Now, this is perhaps my favorite question yet because it’s so random and so good. What meme best describes or relates to my book? Well, my first thought was that meme with the dog and the flames saying, “It’s fine. I’m fine.” But I think that more reflects me than the book itself, although, given that Mario is a fire performer, and Jack worked as a firefighter, and I’m fine is probably something Jack says … I suppose it actually does work. Still, let me have a think about this.
What popular meme best describes or relates to my book? I guess my biggest problem with this is that I’m not a very visual person. I’m extremely audio which means that I’m more able to retain the impression of sounds than I am visuals.
Googles all the memes…
Nothing…
Oh, why is this one so hard?
Wait! I might have one.
All right. I think... yes, I think I’m going to have to go with a Willy Wonka meme which I shall post below with attribution because how do I explain it?

It fits for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s very representative of Mark in every way, but this is not his book. Having said that, Mark is very observant of everything that goes on and I feel like this book, this story between Jack and Mario is just the first little tidbit of the series which makes sense being that it is book one. There’s also the sarcastic element of, ‘please go on. Tell me more about this thing I clearly don’t know anything about,’ which is very much a Mario and Jack combined vibe. There’s also an element of uncertainty and contrast in perception between curiosity and judgment, which is very indicative of the interaction between the two men.
So there we go. That’s it for today. That was tougher than I expected.
