With his two arms gripped to the two front headrests, he maintained his balance as an unlicensed bus conductor.

From behind, I knew that his eyes were boring through me and probing my every move. I must put on my best chauffeuring skills.

We were a few hundred feet from home when I heard the young man’s humming from behind me.

"This car can speed o."

On that day, we were driving along our gritty home street heading to school to pick up his older pals back home.

We just passed the nearby provisions store when I heard him mutter those words.

I briefly glanced back and asked him,

"Willy, what did you just say?"

Nonplussed, he quietly repeated exactly what he had said earlier.

“I said, this car can speed o.”

I had to relax my foot on the pedal and heed the voice of my young master from behind.

These days, it feels a lot as if my godson is training me, his “grandpa” more than the other way round. And to think it was just yesterday when his hand was cradling my little finger. Trustingly.

They are leading and teaching us all the time. If only we’ll stop for a while and listen? Ponder over it and share lessons you learnt from children. All of them, yours and ours.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Holy Bible, Isaiah 11:6)
