One Simple Way to Boost Your Medium Views Everyone Can Do
It takes you only a few extra minutes before finishing your article, and it pays dividends in the long run

Are you trying to grow your Medium following to exceed 1,000 and maybe even become a top writer?
Well you’re in the perfect place for tips on how you can get there. My name is Jordan Mendiola and I’ve been writing on Medium for since February of 2020. I reached my first 1,000 followers in September — so it took me nearly six months to achieve this fulfilling milestone.
Your viewership is crucial to growing as a writer and gaining momentum into the future of your writing career. If you clicked on this article, then you want to get down to business and prosper on Medium. Let’s jump right into it.
Add Related Stories at the Bottom of Your Articles
Adding stories to the bottom of my articles seemed scammy and click-baity to me when I first started out. I had read in some places that adding links to your other stories came across insincere, but after being on the platform for six months, I decided to believe otherwise.
Related stories help your readers get what they want.
It doesn’t take a whole lot of brainstorming to come up with ways to guide your readers to other valuable pieces of writing you’ve already completed.
Sure, you could spam the Facebook groups you’re part of and be a bit of a spammer, but that doesn’t have to be your only form of marketing.
If you put out quality content, then people will want to read more.
So give your audience a bit of guidance. Point them to the resources they need to succeed. For instance, this article I’m writing focuses on Medium growth, so therefore I am going to link three other useful stories related to Medium growth at the bottom.
The great thing is, you can still get curated!
How to Link Your Stories
There are two methods to link your stories here on medium.
- You can add a hyperlink on a specific piece of text.
- You can add a link box that displays your article headline and cover photo.
Hyperlink
You can choose any word in any sentence and add a link to it like this.

It’s a pretty basic way to add your links to your stories in a more subtle way. But the way I prefer to add my links to my stories is by using the link box.
Link Box
For lack of a better term, I’m going to call my method of marketing the link box.
Step 1: Take your link and paste it on the Medium story.

Step 2: Go to the end of the link and press Enter.
Step 3: Your link will appear like the image below.

There you go! You’re all set up with your link box to your story and then other people will be able to click through and see the story you linked for them.
To see what happens when you click on it, skip to the end of this story so you can test it out for yourself.
Don’t Force Any Linked Stories
What do I mean by don’t force any linked stories?
I mean that you shouldn’t write a story about how to be more confident and link three stories about why the earth is flat — news flash, it’s not flat.
Besides the point, it’s important for you to link your stories that relate to your article. Your readers will appreciate you saving them time from searching other stories related to the topic you’re writing about.
Time is everything nowadays.
Everyone wants to get the information they need, and get out. We all have other things we have to tend to like work, people, and we all need our personal time.
If I hadn’t used Medium this past year, I wouldn’t have gained all of these incredible traits:
- Much more confidence in everything I do.
- Knowledge about marketing, social, media, and other tasks related to my job.
- Motivational stories that inspire me to be better and do more in life.
- How to become a more efficient runner and gaining more perspective in exercise.
Help Your Readers, and They’ll Help You
At the end of the day, your goal is to boost your readership, followers, and grow as a writer isn’t it?
Linking your stories is going to help out your audience tremendously and they’ll appreciate the way you lead them into stories that make sense for them.
Since you help them get the information they need in a timely manner, they’ll subconsciously help you by following and reading more of your work!
Everybody wins when you do your due diligence.
Don’t look at Medium as a scary place to write because at one point or another, we all had doubts about our writing capabilities and whether or not we’d make it.
Just stick to the plan and keep going. You’re going to surprise yourself two years down the line when you look back on how many people you’ve helped.
Main Points
To boost your growth on your Medium journey, you’ve got to link your stories at the bottom of the page. It’s going to take you further than you could have ever expected. Plus, you’ll be passively marketing over a long period of time.
- Link your stories to help your audience find more information on your topic.
- Don’t force any linked stories — make sure it relates to your article.
- If you help your readers, they’ll help you.
Huge thanks to Tom Handy because he is one of the first writers I noticed who linked his stories and showed me how it worked. His stories are worth checking out!
We’re all in this together. Linking your stories is just one way to boost your readership and grow on the platform. I wish you the best of luck!
