One of the Boldest Statements About God in Ancient Indian Scriptures

The highest state of self-realization is "Aham Brahmasmi" — I'm God.

Hinduism is not a religion. It never was. It is a way of living.

Centuries back, people living in the Hind region (Indian subcontinent) were called Hindus.

India was (and still is) the land of spirituality. The massive work on self-realization and great spiritual books still serve humanity.

Ancient Indians regarded those in the highest position that used to go on to discover the self. They considered everything else secondary. Great kings revere the words of saints more than their life. Such was the greatness.

The Vital Difference That Makes Hinduism Different

The value of spirituality might have dissolved with age. But one bold thing makes Hinduism different.

It is that you can question the existence of God.

You are encouraged to ask various queries and even doubt the belief system. You can even be an atheist yet be a Hindu. Nobody forces you to believe in anything or consider it blasphemy.

No other organized religion allows the follower to question God.

Fear of God was never taught. At least in ancient times.

Even now, everything is considered sacred. You can bow before anything, a stone, a flower, a cow, the sun, or water; nobody considers it sacrilege.

In ancient India, spiritual debates were common thing. The freedom to share your knowledge and doubt made people incredibly open-minded.

Although many things got lost with invasions, wars, and manipulative politics. But the essence is still there.

The Boldest Statement in Upanishads — I’m God

Ancient saints devised many ways to uncover the highest potential within each human being. Mighty books like Vedas, Upanishads, and Geeta all point to the highest truth.

Ancient scriptures of Upanishads say — Aham Brahmasmi.

The literal translation says — I am God.

Am 'I' really the God?

'Aham Brahmasmi' is not an egoic expression.

The essence of the statement comes from the most profound experience of self. The journey of self-discovery takes you beyond the imagination of the mind.

The 'I' commonly attached to identity (of any sort) is not the real 'I.'

Your emotions, thoughts, and expectations are not 'you.'

Lies and manipulations corrupt the mind. The mind thinks it controls everything. All the weight of the universe is on your little 'I.'

But…

It shatters as you go on self-discovery.

The path of self-discovery shows — what you are ‘not.’

In the end, what remains is 'Aham Brahmasmi.'

The Highest Experience of All Mystics

Nothing is separate. The boundaries of the body and senses create separation. The mind/ego designs the subtlest separation.

And when mind drops, ego dissolves, only oneness remains.

Aham Brahamsmi points out that no God is waiting up in heaven. There is no God who acts as a ruler of the universe.

It is a bold statement that says if you want to find God, look within yourself.

India is the land of thousands of years of spiritual history. Incredible saints graced their presence in almost every century. Those who reached the highest state always say to look inward.

There is nothing outside. Outside is just the magnified version of your subtle ego.

If you are upset, the entire world will become a battlefield for you. Even the war zone will become a meditative place if you are in utter bliss.

The secret is to go beyond

• all curtains that you have blinded yourself with
• the identities that you attached yourself with
• the desires that entangle you more

The more you go deep within, the more you realize the illusion that keeps you bound in the world.

It goes on to evaporate as you start to live your life consciously.

Only Courageous and Innocent People Can Delve Within Themselves. Not Everyone

Self-discovery is not for the faint of heart. Many people are content with the comforts of the known, even if it is a sad reality.

Many are engrossed in watching life from their perspective. They forget to open their mind window to let in the fresh air. The mass illusion makes them more secure.

If you need security, leave spirituality, it is not your cup of tea.

But if you want "The Truth of Life" and will go to any depths, you are a rare, courageous person.

Life will open its mystical doors for you if you can settle for nothing but the truth.

The path to the truth goes from your being. Diving within self is the most daring act any human can make.

Why?

Because it is a conscious death. Only when the illusionary "I" dies does the divine "I" comes up.

Divine 'I' that is beyond all

• imaginations
• illusions
• attachments
• fear
• stories
• identities

Only a daring person can look within the profound darkness. To go beyond the intense hurt and process of all emotions needs certain madness.

Only then you realize what lies beneath the illusion. Only then godliness rises.

When you realize your godliness, the existence itself becomes God. All the separation dissolves. You become nothing. In that nothingness, divinity arises.

Takeaways

There is no outer way to find God. If you want to find God, go inwards within your heart.

Don't look outside, or you'll be more disillusioned. Go inside, and you will realize the truth. Self-realization happens when the illusion of separation breaks down completely.

Aham brahamasmi means the declaration of enlightenment. It says I’m divine. I’m ultimate. I am absolute. There is no god other than my own inner being.
