On Hope
How much hope can reside in you?
Hope is a white picket fence, making your dream a beautiful house where you can live happily ever after.
This was what I had always believed as I grew up.
But then I realized that hope was actually a needle which you needed to suture your broken heart together but it carried a hole in itself on one end and was sharp on the other end. The more you let it pass through you, the more holes it left behind, along the edges.
The threads would eventually wear off, exposing who you are.
I know this now. For most of the time, I never knew it. The rest of the time, I refused to acknowledge it. But in the end, I had to accept it.
Hope was contagious. It just might leave you nothing behind.
Except loss.
