Older is Better

I am getting older And I love it. Is it my enthusiasm for the future Or eagerness to run from the past? I am happy for the memories That could have lasted.

Older means greyer Older is holding on to what remains. I am letting go of it all For me, older is better Leaving behind the home So cold as under frozen letter.

I am older and growing still It makes me happy For older means I don't have to do this for long. Every age I cross another year A year less to end than when born.

I loved this life For all I had But do wish the stars Fell more on the eve When I cried to sleep Looking for a reason to live.
