Of This World
A Poem About Stewardship

Of the greens and the blues, and all the different hues.
Of Everest and great heights, and the crystalline dendrites.
Of the oceans and the seas, and all the aquatic breeds.
Of the deserts and the snows, and the soils where food grows.
Of the forests and the trees, and the birds and the bees.
Of our one and only home, we are never really alone.
Of this world we share, and why we must care.
Through it we are sustained, yet we cause it such pain.
Waters rise as it roasts, while coasts become ghosts.
Raging fires block the sun, and violent storms no longer stun.
Crops overwater and drown, and they wilt in the ground.
The South meets the freeze, so I beg of you, please!
Take time to appreciate, maybe you can mediate.
Know this is our place, but it is not ours to take.
We are the stewards of this planet, so get up and take action, dammit!
