Now Is The Only Time We Have

If not now then when?

For the past couple of weeks, I caught myself thinking about doing a career change and how I’ve probably have chosen the worst time for it. It’s difficult enough to maintain the current course, not to mention switching to a completely new thing.

But if not now then when? No matter how challenging the time is now (and I know everyone is tired of hearing this phrase over and over again), it is the only one that we have. We can adapt and use it to our advantage or waste it waiting for the things to change.

All we have is now, this moment. If you live in the future, you’ll miss things, right here, right now, and you’ll regret it later.― Jessica Therrien

And change is one of the most certain things in life. It will happen whether you like it or not. While we try to predict how the future might look like, it isn’t always possible, and let’s be honest here, life can throw in a lot of surprises.

It’s easy to succumb to sadness and blame all adversities on the circumstances. Plans fall through, dreams crush, lack of security is overwhelming, nothing is certain anymore. Shit happens.

But life doesn’t stop just because something bad happened. It shifts, transforms and goes on. While you fixate on the negativity and fighting the change, the precious time passes. The time that you can’t get back.

What you do with this time is completely up to you. You can make the best out of it and squeeze out every opportunity or you can let it pass while waiting for a better moment. But keep in mind that the better moment might never come.
